Walmart’s eCommerce Fulfillment Center in Davenport, Florida, is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to processing online orders. Opened in July 2017, the center spans over 2.2 million square feet across a 50-acre campus near the intersection of I-4 and Highway 27 in Polk County. It features two buildings equipped with advanced technology to enhance order fulfillment efficiency.
The facility was projected to create more than 1,500 jobs in the region, with over 550 associates hired at the time of opening and plans to recruit at least 1,000 more. This initiative is part of Walmart’s broader investment in Florida, totaling over $450 million during 2017-2018, aimed at expanding its infrastructure and enhancing customer service.
Strategically integrated into Walmart’s extensive distribution network, the Davenport center plays a crucial role in ensuring prompt delivery of online orders to customers or stores for pickup. This facility is among Walmart’s six eCommerce fulfillment centers and the first of its kind in Florida, underscoring the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demands of online shoppers.
In addition to its operational contributions, Walmart has demonstrated a commitment to the local community through financial support to various non-profit organizations in Florida. During the opening ceremony, grants were awarded to groups such as Give Kids the World, CareerSource Polk, and Ridge Community High School JROTC, reflecting Walmart’s dedication to community engagement and support.
